I was born in San Antonio Texas, but my family moved to the Pacific Northwest when I was a little boy and it was only after I was well into my twenties that I managed to come back and visit the city of my birth and to discover what a great place it really is. There is a lot to see and do around San Antonio, so if you are planning on taking a trip to my favorite city in the US, I would highly recommend getting a rental car.

If you do your homework before you head out to San Antonio, you can find some really great deals on a car rental. I would highly recommend not going to one of the big name national car rental places because if you can find a privately owned local rental agency, you can get the same car and same service for 30-50% cheaper than one of the national brands. If you already have car insurance, check to see if they cover rental cars, because if they do then you can opt out of the agencies insurance and get the car for dirt cheap.

I can’t tell you the difference having your own car will make for your trip. There are so many things in and around the city that you just have to see that if you don’t have a car of your own, you’ll never even start scratching the surface of everything that San Antonio has to offer, I can guarantee it!
