I have always thought that San Antonio is a great place to go for a family vacation. In addition to the Alamo and the River Walk, San Antonio offers Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which is an awesome theme park (we liked it so much during our trip that we actually ended up going two days in a row). Although you will want to be sure that you pack a lot of t-shirts and shorts if you go there during the summer (because it definitely gets very hot during the days), you will have a wonderful time once you adjust to the Texas heat.
